Reyhan was a little girl who had a beautiful, magical garden. In her garden, colorful flowers sparkled like stars.
Every day she watered the flowers kindly. Reyhan wanted all of this beauty only for herself.
One day, a small blue bird flew in and perched on a branch. It wanted to smell a little of the flowers’ fragrance.
But Reyhan shooed the bird away and said, “Go away! This is my garden, and I don’t want anyone to see my flowers.”
Shabnam, the neighbor girl, looked from behind the fence and softly said, “Reyhan, may I come too, so we can play together?”
Reyhan frowned and shut the big garden gate. She hid the golden key in her pocket so that no one could enter.
The next morning when Reyhan woke up, the garden was no longer like always. The flowers had lowered their heads, and their color had turned gray.
Reyhan sat alone and cried. She understood that without friends and happiness, her garden no longer had any beauty or light.
She quickly ran and opened the gate. Reyhan called Shabnam and said, “Come, Shabnam! Come so we can enjoy the beauty of the flowers together.”
Suddenly the flowers bloomed again and a rainbow shone in the garden. Now Reyhan knew that happiness grows more when you share it.
