At the edge of a faraway forest, there was a little house that had a very big garden. A tiny girl named “Nila” lived in this house. Nila loved flowers and trees.
When Lady Sun grew tired and went behind the mountains to sleep, something strange happened. When night arrived, Nila’s garden, instead of becoming dark, began to glow.
Nila ran to the garden. She saw that the pink roses had lit up like tiny lamps. Every flower that Nila touched, its light became brighter and more moonlike.
Suddenly, golden fireflies came out from among the grass. They spun around Nila and, like little shooting stars, lit the way for her.
In the middle of the garden, there was an old willow tree. But this was not an ordinary tree! The leaves of this tree shone a silvery color at night, and when the wind blew, they made the sound of tiny bells.
A big blue butterfly, whose wings sparkled like diamonds, sat on Nila’s shoulder. Nila started to dance, and the butterfly flapped its wings along with her.
Nila reached the little pond in the middle of the garden. The pond water was full of blue, shining bubbles. She took one bubble in her hand, and the bubble hung in the air like a light balloon.
A tiny star that had slipped from the sky came down and sat on the tip of Nila’s finger. The star was very warm and kind, and it smelled like freshly baked cookies.
Little by little, Nila’s eyes grew heavy. The magical garden whispered a calm lullaby for her. The grass under her feet was like a thick, soft, warm carpet.
Nila fell asleep among the shining flowers. The moon smiled down at her from above. The bright garden stayed awake all night to watch over Nila’s sweet dreams. Good night, Nila, good night, beautiful garden.
