In a big and beautiful palace, a king named Soren lived. Everyone said he had a heart like stone—cold and hard. He never laughed, and he didn’t like anyone playing in his palace.
Near the palace, a kind mother lived with her little daughter, Hiliya, and her newborn baby, Aria. The mother was worried that the strict king would not allow Aria to grow up there.
With Hiliya’s help, the mother prepared a woven reed basket filled with soft, pink flowers. They gently placed Aria in the basket so they could entrust him to the magical river.
The flower basket drifted on the blue, calm water. Hiliya, with her small steps, ran along the riverbank and watched over her little brother from afar.
The flower basket reached the palace garden. A kind lady named Rooz, who was the king’s wife, was sitting by the river and watching the butterflies.
Suddenly Lady Rooz saw the basket full of flowers. In surprise, she reached out her hand and lifted little Aria from among the flowers. The baby woke up and smiled at the lady.
Hiliya, who had been hiding behind the apple tree, came forward and said in a gentle voice: “Would you like to meet a kind mother who can sing a lullaby for this baby?”
Lady Rooz happily agreed. Hiliya ran and brought her mother. Now the mother could stay in the palace and take care of Aria. The sorrow left their hearts.
One day King Soren saw Hiliya playing with the baby. Hiliya gave the king a white flower. Suddenly, something stirred in the king’s chest.
The king’s heart of stone melted with the children’s smiles and blossomed like spring. Now the palace was filled with the sound of laughter and happiness, and everyone was kind to one another.
