On a sunny, beautiful morning, Zari found a shiny yellow umbrella in a corner of the yard. This umbrella was not ordinary; it was as if it smelled of spring flowers and dreams. Zari held the umbrella’s handle and smiled.
Suddenly, a gentle breeze blew. Pashmak, Zari’s fluffy white cat, looked at the umbrella in surprise. Zari said, “Pashmak, come! It looks like the yellow umbrella wants to take us on a long, faraway trip.”
The soft wind lifted the umbrella up. Zari held tight to the umbrella’s handle. Her feet slowly rose off the ground. She felt as if she had become light like a dandelion fluff.
Pashmak, who was sitting in the umbrella’s basket too, played with his fluffy tail. They passed above the trees. From up there, the trees looked like green, tasty broccoli.
They reached a cloud that looked like Pashmak. Zari stretched out her hand and touched a piece of the cloud. The cloud was soft and cool, just like a feather pillow.
A little blue bird reached them in the middle of the sky. The bird welcomed them by singing. Pashmak meowed at the bird, and they became friends with each other.
Little by little, Lady Sun went to sleep. Zari’s yellow umbrella spun and, like a small boat, settled on a river of shining stars. Zari sat calmly in her yellow boat.
Pashmak, who was getting sleepy, put his head on Zari’s feet. The kind moon, like a big lantern, shone in the heart of the night and lit the way for them.
The umbrella slowly came down and landed right in the middle of Zari’s yard. Their dreamy trip had come to an end, but the smell of the stars was still left on Zari’s clothes.
Zari and Pashmak fell asleep under the warm, soft yellow umbrella. They knew that tomorrow they could go again with the yellow umbrella on new, gentle journeys. Good night, Zari; good night, Pashmak.
